Hosting and proxy

We operate this website on a virtual server that we manage ourselves, hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany. Cloudflare, Inc. is used as a proxy to deliver and protect the website. Both services process connection data, including IP addresses, requested URLs and technical browser information. Cloudflare operates a global network; processing is not limited to Germany.

Calculator inputs and results

The calculator runs in your browser. We do not create user accounts or store calculator inputs and results in cookies or browser storage. These values are not sent to our server, statistics or advertising services by the calculator.

Website delivery and older result links

Delivering the website requires connection data such as your IP address and the requested page. Older result links may contain calculator inputs in their address; opening such a link can transmit those parameters to the hosting infrastructure. The page removes these parameters from the visible address before optional services start. New calculations do not add inputs or results to the address.

Necessary functions

Google Privacy & messaging manages consent for advertising and our own website statistics. The Google script loads to provide the dialog before you choose, with ad requests paused. This transmits connection data such as your IP address, browser information and website origin to Google; existing Google cookies may be read. Calculator inputs and results are not transmitted. The dialog also loads Google Fonts from Google servers before you make a choice. This transmits connection data, including your IP address and browser information, to Google.

Use Privacy & advertising by the calculator or Privacy settings in the footer to review or withdraw consent. Advertising and our own statistics have separate purposes within the same Google dialog. The calculator works without either choice. Withdrawal after a service has started reloads the page. A stored decision is respected on later visits.

Optional statistics

Our self-hosted OpenPanel statistics start only after consent to our own device-access and content-measurement purposes in the Google dialog. Advertising consent alone does not enable statistics. OpenPanel processes page addresses and titles, language and technical connection data such as IP address and browser information to measure visits and sessions. The integration removes URL queries and fragments and sends no calculator inputs, results, form events or session recordings. The statistics service is hosted at opapi.treehouse.ch; its script is loaded from openpanel.dev only after the required consent. Only the referring website’s domain is included, without credentials, port, path, query parameters or fragments.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control prevent us from starting statistics and display advertising. Google’s consent script can still load to provide privacy choices. Google Analytics is not used.

Optional advertising

Google AdSense helps fund this website. Display requests remain paused until the applicable consent requirements are met. In GDPR regions, personalized ads are permitted only with consent to Google, device access, personalized advertising profiles and personalized ad selection; otherwise permitted ad requests remain non-personalized. Outside GDPR regions, Google applies its regional privacy and opt-out settings. Google can process connection data and cookies for ad selection, delivery, frequency limits, reporting and fraud prevention. Calculator inputs and results are not passed to Google.

International processing

Google may process connection and consent data in the USA and other countries already when the consent dialog loads, before you choose. Advertising involves further processing after the applicable consent requirements are met. Cloudflare may also process connection data internationally. The linked provider policies describe international processing and transfer safeguards.

Privacy choice

Google’s consent cookies include FCCDCF (13 months) and FCNEC (365 days), according to its cookie information. Your browser can shorten these periods. Review or change your choice via Privacy settings.

Calculator data

Inputs and results remain in the open page. The website does not store them on the server or in browser storage. A PDF you download remains on your device until you delete it.

Website server logs

We manage the website’s access and error logs on this virtual server. Our server configuration rotates these logs by file size: up to three files of 10 MB for the website container. There is no fixed retention period in days; older files are removed as new log data is written. The website’s access logs omit URL query strings.

Optional statistics

Our self-hosted OpenPanel installation has no automatic time-based deletion configured for page-view, session and visitor records. These remain stored until the operator deletes them. Withdrawing consent stops future statistics collection; it does not automatically erase existing records.

Cloudflare and advertising providers

Examples of Google advertising cookies are __gads and __gpi (13 months) and the security cookie __eoi (6 months). Which cookies are used depends on the service and your choices. Cloudflare retains its own connection and security data according to processing purpose and legal requirements; its policy does not give one period for all data. Your rights

You can contact the responsible operator to request access to your personal data, correction or deletion and, where applicable, data portability or restriction of processing. You may withdraw optional consent at any time in the privacy settings. You can also contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or another competent supervisory authority.
