Smart BMI app privacy
How Smart BMI handles inputs, date of birth, history and PDFs: local storage, optional cloud sync and external links.

Smart BMI on your phone
Coming soonScope
This notice covers the native Smart BMI app on iPhone, iPad and Android devices. The website has a separate privacy notice.
Data on your device
You can enter weight, height, age, sex used for calculation, units and optional Asian origin. The app saves your latest inputs as defaults. An optional date of birth calculates age. Saved measurements contain a date and calculation inputs, from which BMI, SBMI and history charts are derived. The app does not read contacts, location or Apple Health/Health Connect.
Local calculation without advertising or analytics SDKs
The calculator, history and PDF generation run on the device and work offline. The app has no own user account and does not send calculation inputs, date of birth or history to our servers. Fonts and calculation resources are bundled. No advertising or analytics SDK is active in the app.
Storage, editing and deletion
Data remains until you change or delete it. You can edit and delete history entries; Undo restores a just-deleted entry. In persistent history, after deletion only a local identifier and modification time remain as a deletion marker, not measurement values. Reset clears saved defaults and date of birth, not history. Deleting the app or its app data may remove local history, but does not delete external copies or backups.
PDF export and sharing
A PDF contains calculation inputs, age and result, but not the full date of birth. For system sharing, the native app creates a temporary PDF in its cache; it may remain until overwritten or the cache is cleared. Only your selection in the share dialog passes the file to another app or recipient. Exported copies follow the storage and privacy rules of that destination.
External links and contact
Articles, sources and other website pages open in the browser. The app does not add measurements or date of birth to these links. A visit processes connection data such as IP address and requested URL; the website may use its own consent, statistics and advertising services. This privacy page itself loads no advertising or analytics scripts. Like the website, it is delivered through Hetzner and Cloudflare; the website notice describes their processing of connection data. If you contact us, we process your address and message to handle the request and keep them only as long as necessary for this or legal requirements. Do not send unnecessary health information.
Cloud sync and device backups
On iPhone and iPad, you can optionally sync history with your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit). Only “Enable sync” starts transferring measurement dates, calculation inputs, identifiers, change times and deletion markers. Date of birth and current defaults are not synced. Edits and deletions reach devices using the same iCloud account on the next sync; offline changes are retried when you open the app or keep it active. We run no server for this and cannot access your private iCloud database. Apple processes data according to your iCloud settings. Disabling sync stops future transfers but does not delete the cloud copy. An account change pauses sync. In the Android app, you can optionally sync the same history using your Google Drive’s private app storage. After your authorization, Google receives the history data listed above; date of birth and current defaults stay local. The app requests access only to its own app data, not your other Drive files. Removing Smart BMI from Google Drive or deleting its app data there can remove the cloud copy. Separately, iOS device backups may contain app data. Automatic Android app backup is disabled. Manage cloud copies and device backups with the respective provider.
App stores
When you download or update through an app store, its provider processes data under its own privacy rules. This processing is separate from local calculations in Smart BMI.
